Getting Started

Quickstart: Dashboard

Create a Trenchcoat account and explore the analytics dashboard.

This guide walks you through signing up, reading your first session, and inviting your team. If you are here to install the plugin, see Quickstart: Plugin.

Step 1: Create an account

Go to app.trenchcoat.com/signup and sign up with your work email. You will be placed on the free tier, which supports up to 3 team members and retains 30 days of history.

Step 2: Explore the Overview page

The Overview page shows aggregated stats for the selected date range:

  • Sessions — total Claude Code sessions in the period
  • Events — total telemetry events captured
  • Tool uses — total tool invocations across all sessions
  • Active days — number of days with at least one session

Use the date picker in the top-right corner to adjust the range.

Step 3: Create an API key for the plugin

Your team members need API keys to connect the plugin. Go to Settings → API Keys → New API Key:

  • Name the key for the team member or machine (e.g., "Alice — MacBook Pro")
  • Scope: select write:events for plugin keys
  • Share the key with the team member — it will not be shown again

Step 4: Invite team members

Go to Settings → Team. Each invited member gets their own login and their sessions appear in your shared dashboard.

Members with the member role can view analytics. The admin role can manage API keys and invite others.

Step 5: Filter by date and explore sessions

On the Sessions page, you can:

  • Click any session row to see its event timeline and tool breakdown
  • Use from / to date filters to scope results
  • See duration, tool count, and event count at a glance

On the Tools page, the top tools are ranked by call count with average and P50 duration.
